CAP pleased with Liberal Government’s endorsement of private member’s bill calling for full implementation of UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
November 22, 2017 (Ottawa, ON) – National Chief Robert Bertrand of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) is pleased the Liberal Government has taken the decision to support a private member’s bill that ensures Canada fully implements the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Bill C-262, An Act to ensure that the laws of Canada are in harmony with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, sponsored by NDP MP Romeo Saganash, calls for all Canadian laws to be consistent with UNDRIP.
