(Ottawa) February 5, 2016 – Dwight Dorey, National Chief of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, began the Eastern leg of the National Grassroots Engagement Tour today, in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
“I am thrilled to be back home in the Maritimes,” said Dorey. “While we share many of the same concerns, each province provides a different perspective on Indigenous issues.
Today, and over the next few days, I will be visiting P.E.I, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, before heading out west to Manitoba.”
The national tour, which began in Victoria, B.C., in November 2015, is part of an initiative to speak with Indigenous peoples living off-reserve from coast-to-coast-to-coast. The tour is scheduled to end in Newfoundland in March 2016.
