Congress of Aboriginal Peoples sends letter to Justice minister about meeting exclusion

March 3, 2022 by

A letter has been sent out by the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples expressing their frustration with Minister of Justice David Lametti.

Last week, Lametti held a meeting with all his provincial and territorial counterparts to talk about justice and public safety priorities.

Multiple National Indigenous Organizations were also invited to the meeting to get their opinions on Indigenous justice and policing however, the Congress were not invited to the meeting and they believe that Lametti purposely excluded them.

The Congress’s National Chief, Elmer St. Pierre, was the one who sent the letter to Minister Lametti, listing all the input that was missed when the Congress was not invited.
