Elections for the CAP National Chief and National Vice-Chief will take place at the 53rd Annual General Assembly (AGA). In accordance with CAP’s Bylaws, Article 5.03, in order to be eligible for election to the office of Chief or Vice-Chief, an individual must, no later than by 11:59 pm National Head Office time 21 days prior to the date of the CAP Annual General Assembly at which they are to seek election, deliver to the head office of the Congress a printed, written or typewritten, or electronic notice personally signed by the individual and directed to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer, stating their intention to run for the office of Chief or Vice-Chief. No election candidate is permitted to run for both offices.

Our Annual General Assembly is attended by delegates selected by our Provincial and Territorial affiliate Organizations (PTOs) to discuss achievements of the year while setting the direction for the following year. We work collectively with our PTOs across Canada to actively undertake policy, interventions, and political action on the issues facing off-reserve status and non-status Indians, Metis, and Southern Inuit Indigenous peoples. We demand that the CAP-Daniels Decision be upheld and the rights of our constituents are protected and respected.
